Other Updates

Vehicle crime
* The neighbourhood team completed high visibility patrols in Stirchley over the weekend of 13th-15th November along Pershore Road and the side roads off. Between 7pm and 10pm each day the team looked for vehicles that had been left insecure or with valuables on view. Each vehicle that was seen was checked on the police national computer and the owner, if local, was visited and given a crime prevention pack or, if not local, was sent a letter. Over the three day period (in which it was pouring with rain most of the time) the team checked 63 vehicles, some had windows open, others had wallets, sat navs and ipods left in them, many had sat nav cradles and ipod leads showing. Most of the vehicles belonged to Stirchley residents.  ****Please pass this message to friends and neighbours. If we can find 63 vehicles worth breaking into in 9 hours think how many a thief can find in a day*****.

*Anti Social Behaviour in Windsor Road, Beilby Road and Harvest Close
Housing Officer Vicki Moore and her team have door knocked the area and spoken to many residents. Three families who were believed to be responsible for ASB have now been visited and given warnings. The owner of a fourth address where the various occupants are believed to be responsible for much crime and ASB over a long period of time and which is a magnet for local unsupervised youths, has been invited for a meeting to discuss the issues. Legal proceedings are being considered against this person.  An adult male has been arrested and is currently in custody for affray and assault. A youth has been arrested and charged with criminal damage (graffiti) to a premises in Windsor Road. A further adult male has been convicted of possess cannabis with intent to supply. The police team have not received any calls of ASB for the last four weeks.

*Speeding Fordhouse Lane
A further speed survey has been requested to take place towards the bottom of the hill.

*Speeding Priory Road
Results of a speed survey has suggested that over 70% of vehicles are exceeding the 20mph speed limit with an average speed of 28.3mph south bound (towards Vicarage Road) and 29mph northbound (towards Cartland Road). These results will be passed to the Road Policing Unit for consideration of a pro-laser operation.

*Weeds and graffiti in Harvest Close
These have all been removed and residents have contacted Councillor Huxtable to comment how clean the Close is. Thank you to the hit squad for this.

* Application for 24 hour liquor licence by Costcutters in Stirchley.
Sergeant Knowles, PC Turner (Licensing officer) and the three Ward Councillors have all made representations against the issue of a 24 hour licence. The hearing will take place on 7th December before the licensing committee. ***Update on 7th December..the application was approved**
