Forum meeting 9/1/17
« on: January 12, 2017, 04:00:09 PM »
Having not been able to attend the last meeting due to work constraints at which Tesco representatives were in attendance I'm trying to find out what the outcome was if any. Nothing seems to be forthcoming from the company at present. Thanks. JP

In brief:

Tesco would like to apologise for the delays but there are no plans any time soon to start work.

That's it!!! Why go to the trouble of going to a public meeting and saying just that. Beggars belief. Surely from a business point of view with the lack of competition in the area it would make good sense to build at present,but............. JP

Tesco said they would be continuing with preparing the infrastructure over the next few weeks, intending to spend another £1.4 million on the site before their year end (March 31st). Actual building cannot start until final bits of planning permission are cleared by the council (this includes road alteration). They are hoping that permission will be finalised by early March. Councillors who were present did not comment on this proposed date.       Tesco representatives gave a brief presentation which was followed by a 1 hour 15 minute question and answer session.  There were 109 members of the public present at the meeting.

Thanks Chris. I thought there had to be some glitch in the system as to why they hadn't started. Let and right hand syndrome seems to prevail with the local mandarins. Formulate a guided approach to the whole fiasco and bring this eyesore back into use for goodness sake. JP
