1650 Pershore Road Stirchley, Demolition of existing foundry
« on: January 17, 2016, 11:32:05 AM »
A few of you will have noticed work has started on the demolition of the foundry works between Fordhouse lane and the Canal.
The details for the planning are below
Erection of 9 no. two bedroom apartments, 11 no. two bedroom dwellings and 8 no. three bedroom dwellings with associated access, landscaping and car parking.

Don't envy anyone trying to access Pershore Road towards town from the development....being just beyond a tricky junction, blind corner, hump back bridge, across often queueing traffic for Fordhouse Lane from the south and just yards up from the notorious Fordhouse Lane/Pershore Road junction from the north.

Ha, it is fun and games living up that neck of the woods with the traffic, but you learn to navigate it!

Hopefully the roadside area will be landscaped and the development will brighten that bit of Pershore up a little, it has looked a terrible mess over the past few years with graffiti, fly tipped rubbish and the selection of vans for sale parked at jaunty angles... and that was just on the outside of the gates!!

A little sad to see one of Stirchley's best art deco buildings get demolished, but on the whole I think the development will be positive.

Certainly a positive step in clearing up that site Breedon Cross Boy...just a shame the long discussed Fordhouse Lane/Pershore Road junction improvement could not go ahead at the same to time to take account of the new development.

Yeah that really needs to happen...

Not sure what will become of "fireworks shop", it doesn't look like that will ever come back in to use. If they do eventually build houses on the Wilmot Breedon site one would assume they would have to address the junction.

The best step would be to block the junction of Windsor Road, it's the 'rat running' at rush hour that chokes it up.

If they do build houses there then the Firework shop could be a newsagent again.
