With the continuing incursions throughout the city why aren't authorities given the ultimate sanction of seizing vehicles? Travellers then cease to be able to travel! I know it is controversial but something needs to be done asap. JP

At the Stirchley Neighbourhood Forum the  Police reported that these days the vehicles are nearly always legally taxed and insured, so not sure they can seize them under those circumstances.

Jon, I have heard that even IF they are uninsured and taxed the travellers get round this by getting their kids to occupy the vehicles thus preventing the authorities from doing anything.

The bottom line of this sorry saga is that both the police and BCC are almost impotent to prevent these events occurring.
They are reactive instead of proactive.

Meanwhile, we the local residents have to suffer and we, the council taxpayers, have to pay the financial cost.

Travellers were refusing to move on from a Birmingham school tonight - just hours before pupils were set to return from half term.

But by Sunday evening the convoy remained on site.

Councillor Des Flood (Cons, Bartley Green) had called for immediate action to remove the travellers in time for lessons on the first day back.

He said: “The travellers remain on site. It is a disgrace that children will have their education affected due to the city council dragging their feet in evicting these travellers. Not all pupils will be allowed in school - the school and the police are trying their best in these challenging circumatances."

I see they went to the last place they were evicted from in Kings Norton.

Can't part of the eviction order prevent them from returning with a given period?
