@ breakaleg

Yes, they have gone now.

Unfortunately they are now camped up on the large grassed area adjacent to the River Rea Cycleway about 150 yards behind Dads Lane Fish Bar.

As of 9:00 on Friday morning there were 7 caravans.

Now we have the same old routine to evict them alongside the cost involved and MY and YOUR Council Tax being wasted whilst other Council services that are being closed because of financial cutbacks :(

And they're back. It's the same lot as last year.

These were moved on today from their last place, opposite bournville police station.

They've carved up all the grass gaining access to the site and they've settled in the same area as last time.

This is the form to fill in if anyone wants to notify the council

Here we go again!  >:(

I have suggested over and over that BCC install the low level green metal fencing around all of this area which would keep these 'travellers' out but to no avail.

I can only assume it must be the cost factor and that it is cheaper to go through the lengthy process of evicting them through legal channels with all that entails.

Methinks the old adage 'prevention is better than cure' is appropriate in this situation.

I think these are the same ones who set up camp directly behind Bournville police station :)

The travellers appear to be back on Hazelwell park in the same place as a few weeks ago.

Wednesday 7:30 PM, confirmed and about double the number from last time.

I can only repeat what I said above:

"I have suggested over and over that BCC install the low level green metal fencing around all of this area which would keep these 'travellers' out but to no avail.

I can only assume it must be the cost factor and that it is cheaper to go through the lengthy process of evicting them through legal channels with all that entails."

It seems these (non) travellers think Stirchley is a soft touch!

Do any of our local councillors read this forum?
If so can a definitive answer be found as to why BCC won't install low level green metal barriers and thus save BCC and me, a Council Tax payer, money?

Plus, why on eviction cannot they be instructed to take their waste and rubbish with them and thereby save even more money for BCC?

Noticed that there were some itinerants up on ground near where the old Matthew Boulton college was and that they'd been moved on sometime in this last week. And then surprise surprise back in Stirchley. Thought this land had been made more secure!!
As I've posted before what happens when they are moved on? Do the authorities not track their movement? Because it's patently obvious they'll be looking for a new pitch.

As far as I can tell, the Council let them move around, wait for them to settle then go through the eviction process.  The Police seem to take no steps against them.

It's clear they're working cash in hand and fly tipping.  But nothing is done to stop them, fine them or get them to clear up.

Poor work from the Council and the Police.

OK, it's been nearly a week now.

Anyone know when they will be evicted?

The area is progressively getting litter strewn and messy :(

I've asked the police and the council on twitter but so far neither have replied.

I see a massive camp has been set up in Stechford - over 30 caravans.

Some of them have left.  The rest were still there this morning.

I see that travellers have broken into Woodgate Valley and set up camp there.  This seems to be an annual blight in Birmingham.  Can't we do anything more to stop them?  The Police and Councils seem to be very lenient towards them.  They can always muster up a few coppers to break up a rave without much warning.

Saw a flotilla of vans turning into Lifford Lane last night at around 20:00. Presume it was the remnant from the park.
