I clocked the travelers last night when I was walking the dog.

The police were there but clearly not able to move them on.

The Police have said that the travellers are due to move out on Tuesday.

No idea what the state of the park will be in when they go.  There's a large amount of garden waste dumped on one part down by the river.

@ Kwacky.
Thanks for the info.

Is there NO way they can be made to pay for the devastation they leave behind?
Why should I, through my Council Tax, have to pay for their mess?

If it is Council owned land can they not post notices around all possible 'traveller sites' that any illegal trepassing of more than 24 hours will result in a fine of £5000 and/or confiscation of vehicles until the fine is paid.

They then have the choice!

Wish they would Dave  :)

Talking about 'travelling'...i never understand why 'travellers' need permanent sites to be provided  :-\

There's a massive amount of garden waste left behind on that site.

I also found their toilet when I was walking the dog.  I've informed the Environmental Services at Brum Council.

Utter disgrace that these Itinerants have once again found a 'berth' in Stirchley. With the amount of open land in the area it surprises me we don't get invaded more often. Does no one keep a tab on the convoy when it leaves one area to then find another? What sort of catchment area do they operate in? JP

Is there any intention by the Council to clear up the mess left behind?  There's all sorts of junk there, including discarded nappies.

The council has tweeted to say that the matter is in hand and should be cleared up shortly.

Would you believe it?

The p?e?s?t?s? travellers are back again in the same spot!

They must be laughing behind their backs assuming BCC is a soft touch.

Surely BCC can see installing low level green metal barriers works out cheaper than Police involvement, lawyers, eviction notices and the inevitable clean up operation afterwards?

@ Kwacky.
I hope you eventually got through.

Meanwhile it looks like Stirchley is not the only Birmingham area to endure these 'travellers'
(which is a misnomer in itself)!

http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-news/perry-park-travellers-moved-set-9812176

Council and police work with traveller families to move them on from Perry Barr, but they set up camp after 15 minute drive down A34

Second time within a relatively short time and the Itinerants are back. had a quick gander as to where the access point was from Hazelwell Lane couldn't see a breach point there so must be coming in from the park side.
Why oh why after the last incursion wasn't the site looked at to find the weak spot/s and then make it more secure? Or if this has been done then it MUST be acted upon sooner rather than later. Someone is going to be back peddling over this methinks. Sort it out for goodness sake please.
